Patreon Payout Schedule: When Does Patreon Pay Out
July 2026 · 8 min read · by the Earnly team · Updated July 2026
Patreon initiates automatic payouts on the 5th of every month, sending your full available balance to your chosen payout method. From there it takes 1 to 5 business days to arrive, depending on whether you use PayPal, direct deposit, or Payoneer. If you would rather not wait, you can request a manual payout of your available balance as often as every 24 hours. So the money you earned in one month generally reaches your bank in the first week or two of the next.
That sounds simple, and the payout half is. What trips creators up is the billing half: when your patrons are actually charged decides how much of your balance is even available on the 5th. Here is the full Patreon payout schedule for 2026, both sides of it, and why your deposit is smaller than your pledge total.
When does Patreon pay out?
Patreon runs one automatic payout a month. On the 5th, it takes your available balance and sends the whole thing to your payout method, as long as the balance is positive. The arrival time then depends on how you get paid:
| Payout method | Typical arrival after the 5th |
|---|---|
| PayPal | Often 2 to 4 business days |
| Direct deposit (ACH) | 3 to 7 business days |
| Payoneer or wire | Up to 7 business days or more by region |
Patreon initiates the transfer on the 5th; your bank or processor sets the day it posts. Treat the 5th as the send date, not the day money is spendable, and expect the first full week of the month to be when it clears.
Can I get paid by Patreon early?
Yes, within limits. You can request a manual payout of your available balance as often as every 24 hours, so you do not have to wait for the 5th at all if funds are already available. This is the closest thing Patreon has to instant payout. The catch is that only available, already-processed funds can be pulled, so a manual payout in the middle of the month sends what has cleared so far, not your projected month-end total.
Why your available balance is smaller than your pledge total
The number that pays out on the 5th is your available balance, and that is usually less than the pledge total on your creator page for two reasons: billing timing and fees.
On billing timing, Patreon uses two systems. Under subscription billing, each patron is charged on the anniversary of the day they joined, so charges land all month long rather than in one batch. Under the older first-of-the-month billing, everyone is charged on the 1st. Either way, some charges are still processing or retrying when the 5th arrives, so they miss that payout and roll into the next one. A patron whose card fails is retried automatically, and that pledge only becomes available once it clears.
How much does Patreon take?
Patreon's cut has three parts: a platform fee, payment processing, and payout fees. For creators who joined on the current plan structure, the platform fee is a flat percentage of what you earn:
- Platform fee: 10% of your earnings for creators who started on or after August 4, 2025. Legacy creators may still be on older 5%, 8%, or roughly 12% plans depending on when and what they signed up for.
- Payment processing: about 2.9% plus $0.30 per transaction on standard pledges, and 5% plus $0.10 on micropledges of $3 or less.
- Payout fees: your payout method may add its own charge, especially PayPal and Payoneer for some regions.
Stack those and a $10 pledge does not deposit as $10. On a 10% plan, that is $1.00 to the platform, roughly $0.59 to processing, and you keep about $8.41 before any payout fee. Run a hundred patrons through that and the gap between your page total and your deposit is real money. We work the full math, including the micropledge trap, in Patreon fees explained.
How long does Patreon take to pay after I request it?
A manual payout follows the same processor timing as the automatic one: 1 to 5 business days in most cases, longer for some international methods. What a manual request does not do is speed up funds that are still processing. If a patron was charged yesterday, that money may not be available to pull today. The sequence is always the same:
- Patron charged. On their billing anniversary, or the 1st under legacy billing.
- Funds process. The charge clears and fees come out, moving it to your available balance.
- Payout initiates. Automatically on the 5th, or whenever you request one manually.
- Bank posts. 1 to 5 business days, set by your method and bank.
Why did my Patreon balance not pay out?
If the 5th came and went with no deposit, the usual causes are a zero available balance (charges still processing), an unverified or incomplete payout method, a balance under your method's minimum, or missing tax information. Patreon holds payouts until your account details and required tax forms are complete, so a first payout often waits on paperwork rather than earnings. Check the payout tab before assuming a bug.
Patreon next to your other income streams
Patreon's monthly rhythm is predictable, which is a gift right up until you add a second and third platform on different clocks. A working creator's month usually looks like this:
| Platform | Payout timing | Threshold |
|---|---|---|
| Patreon | Initiates the 5th, or manual every 24h | Set by payout method |
| YouTube (AdSense) | Issued 21st to 26th | $100 |
| Twitch | Around the 15th, net 15 | $50 |
| Ko-fi | Instant to your PayPal or Stripe | None |
Patreon on the 5th, Twitch around the 15th, YouTube in the 21st to 26th window: your income arrives in waves, and no single dashboard shows the whole month. Laying those waves on a payout calendar turns "when do I actually get paid?" into a glance. If part of growing that Patreon income is getting more eyes on your page, some creators lean on a promotion platform built for creators to drive new patrons, which only makes the multi-stream tracking problem larger.
Getting the most from the schedule
Two habits pay off. First, if cash flow is tight, use manual payouts instead of waiting for the 5th; there is no reason to let cleared money sit. Second, record income against the month your patrons were charged, not the month Patreon deposited it, because failed-then-retried pledges blur the line between a growth month and a billing artifact. Our Patreon income tracker page covers keeping pledges, fees, and take-home on one board alongside every other platform you earn on.
Common Patreon payout questions
- What day does Patreon pay? Automatic payouts initiate on the 5th of each month. You can also request a manual payout every 24 hours.
- Does Patreon pay out the full balance? The automatic payout sends your entire available balance, not a fixed amount.
- Why is my payout less than last month with the same patrons? Usually billing timing. Charges that were still processing on the 5th roll to the next payout, and failed cards get retried.
- Can I change my payout day? No. The automatic date is the 5th. Manual payouts are your flexibility.
- Is Patreon income taxable? Yes. Patreon issues tax forms where thresholds apply. See our guide to 1099s for creators, then talk to a tax professional.
