The honest read
We checked everlance.com/pricing and the in-app purchase list on the Everlance iPhone app on September 10, 2026, because the prices showing up in search results no longer match what Everlance charges. Starter used to be $8.99 a month or $69.99 a year, and Professional was sold only as a $99.99 annual plan. The live page now shows Starter at $10.99 a month or $89.99 a year and Professional at $19.99 a month or $119.99 a year, and the App Store lists the same four figures. That is a 22% rise on monthly Starter, 29% on annual Starter and 20% on annual Professional. Part of the confusion is that the old ladder has not fully gone: a second set of plan cards and FAQ answers carrying the earlier prices is still in the page source code, even though the rendered page shows the new ones, and scraped comparison tables keep picking it up. Everlance is a good product for people whose biggest deduction is the car, and nothing here argues otherwise. What it does not do is tell a creator or online seller what each platform kept before paying them. That is the job Earnly does, from $12 a month, and for plenty of self-employed people the right answer is both tools rather than one.

The pricing page offers a 7-day trial of Starter that needs a card and bills automatically for the plan you picked when it ends, and the Everlance FAQ states that all sales are non-refundable. Basic needs no card. CSV and PDF exports are not included on Basic.

Monthly or annual billing: what a year of Everlance costs
Everlance discounts annual billing heavily, and far more on Professional than on Starter. The saving is real, but so is the no-refund rule, so pay annually once you know you will keep using the app.

Professional billed monthly costs twice as much over a year as Professional billed annually. And a year of Starter on monthly billing ($131.88) costs more than a year of Professional on annual billing ($119.99), so a long-term Starter subscriber paying monthly is paying more for less.

Hurdlr Pro at $200 a year comes from Hurdlr's own help center; its pricing page lists tier names without prices. Keeper also sells a Standard filing plan at $199 a year. MileIQ now belongs to Bending Spoons and more than doubled its price from the $5.99 a month its own older cost article still lists.
Why the Everlance price you found elsewhere is probably out of date
Search for what Everlance costs and most of what comes back says Starter is $8.99 a month or $69.99 a year and Professional is $99.99, annual only. Those were real prices. They are not the prices on the plan cards today, and they are not what the App Store charges either: its in-app purchase list shows Starter (Monthly) at $10.99, Starter (Yearly) at $89.99, Professional (Yearly) at $119.99 and a $19.99 monthly Professional option.
We had the old figures on our own Everlance alternatives page too, until this check. They are corrected there now. The practical lesson for anyone budgeting is to read the plan card on everlance.com or the in-app purchase list, never a review, because review sites copy each other and the page source still holds the earlier ladder.
What $89.99 a year on Starter actually buys
One thing, mainly: Basic stops detecting trips automatically after 30 a month. That is about one trip a working day, and a courier, a real estate agent or a sales rep with several stops a day uses it up inside the first week. Manual trips stay unlimited on Basic, but a tracker you have to remember to start is the one that misses the Tuesday afternoon errand, and missed miles are the whole cost of a mileage app.
The math is worth doing once. The IRS business standard mileage rate for 2026 is 72.5 cents a mile from January 1 to June 30 and 76 cents from July 1 to December 31. At those rates $89.99 equals the deduction on roughly 118 to 124 business miles. In actual tax saved, at a 12% federal bracket plus self-employment tax, a business mile is worth very roughly 19 to 20 cents, so Starter pays for itself once it catches around 450 to 475 miles you would otherwise have missed. Starter also adds CSV and PDF exports, which Basic does not include and which your preparer will ask for.
Is Everlance Professional worth it?
Yes, if you want the return filed inside the same app and your situation is simple enough for bundled filing. No, if a CPA prepares your return anyway, because then you are paying for a filing product you will not use.
On annual billing Professional costs $30 a year more than Starter. For that it adds automatic expense tracking through bank and credit card connections, an AI deduction finder on iOS, tax filing, $1 million audit defense, live 1x1 training and priority response. Set that against the alternatives: Keeper charges $199 a year for its Standard filing plan on top of tracking, Hurdlr Pro is $200 a year with federal and one state return included, and a paid preparer for a self-employed return typically runs $300 to $600, as our breakdown of accountant cost for the self-employed shows. Thirty dollars for filing is cheap if it fits you.
The caveat is scope. The pricing page does not spell out which forms and situations bundled filing excludes, so if you have rental property, more than one business or several states, ask Everlance before you count on it. Our Keeper alternatives page covers the filing-first tools in more depth.
Everlance Starter vs Professional: which one to pick
Pick Starter if mileage is the deduction that matters, your other expenses are few or tracked somewhere else, and someone other than Everlance files your return. Pay annually and hand your preparer the export.
Pick Professional if you want bank and card spending categorized automatically and the return filed from the same data. Pay annually here without question: monthly Professional is $239.88 a year against $119.99.
One pattern to avoid: staying on monthly Starter for a whole year. At $131.88 it costs more than annual Professional, which includes everything Starter does plus expenses and filing.
The 7-day trial and the no-refund rule
Everlance offers a 7-day trial of Starter. It needs a card, and when the trial ends the card is charged for whichever plan you picked, monthly or annual, without any further step. Everlance says it emails you two days before the trial ends.
The detail to take seriously is in the pricing FAQ: all sales are non-refundable. You can set a subscription to cancel at the end of its current term, and you keep access to your recorded trips and transactions on Basic afterward, but money already paid stays paid. Everlance itself suggests starting on monthly billing and moving to annual once you are sure. Given the no-refund rule, that is good advice: pick monthly for the trial, then switch.
Everlance or MileIQ on price
Everlance is the cheaper of the two for anyone who needs unlimited tracking. MileIQ Unlimited is $13.99 a month or $139.99 a year, so Everlance Starter saves $3 a month or $50 a year, and even Everlance Professional with filing included is $20 a year cheaper than MileIQ's mileage-only plan.

When Everlance is the wrong purchase
Everlance counts what you spend so you can deduct it. It has no idea that a platform took its cut before paying you, and for creators and online sellers that is the expensive half of the return.
Platforms report gross receipts on the 1099-K once you pass more than $20,000 and more than 200 transactions, before commission and processing fees. Your bank only ever sees the net deposit. Build income from deposits and your Schedule C shows less revenue than the IRS already has on file, by exactly the fees. A self-employed income tracker like Earnly lines every payout up as gross, fees and take-home per platform from $12 a month, and the multi-platform income tracker view puts twelve sources on one board. Earnly does not track mileage and does not file taxes, so a photographer who drives to shoots and sells on Etsy genuinely needs both.
How to check the price you will actually pay
1. Read the plan card, not a review. everlance.com/pricing shows the current ladder at the top of the page.
2. On an iPhone, open the App Store listing. The In-App Purchases section lists Starter (Monthly) at $10.99, Starter (Yearly) at $89.99 and Professional (Yearly) at $119.99, which is the fastest independent confirmation.
3. If you already subscribe, check your renewal price. An annual plan bought at $69.99 or $99.99 may renew at the current rate.
4. Compare tools on annual cost. Monthly prices flatter the tools with the smallest annual discount. Put every candidate on a yearly figure before deciding.
