Shopify Profit Tracker: Real Take-Home After Processing and Plan Fees
Shopify's dashboard shows sales. Your bank shows a smaller number a few days later, and the gap is processing fees you never see itemized on the order. Earnly lays out gross sales, fees, and real take-home per payout, next to every other channel you sell on.

In short
A shopify profit tracker shows what a store actually keeps after Shopify's fee stack, not just gross sales. Shopify takes no commission on the sale itself, which is the real difference from a marketplace, but you pay payment processing on every order: 2.9% plus $0.30 per online transaction on the Basic plan using Shopify Payments, and 2.6% plus $0.10 in person, as published. Rates step down on the higher plans. On top of that sits the plan fee, $39 a month for Basic billed monthly or $29 billed annually, and if you use a third-party payment gateway instead of Shopify Payments you also pay a surcharge of 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow, and 0.6% on Advanced. That fixed $0.30 is why small orders hurt: on a $5 order, processing eats about 12%, while on a $200 order it is closer to 3%. Earnly splits every Shopify payout into gross, processing, and take-home, tracks your effective fee rate over time so a creeping average order value shows up, and puts Shopify next to Etsy, Amazon, and everything else you sell through. Most sellers running more than one channel pick Creator at $32 per month billed yearly. Figures come from published schedules; confirm against your Shopify payout statements.
What changes
Three things you stop doing by hand
Sales are not profit
Every payout splits into gross sales, payment processing, and take-home, so a big sales day that nets thin margin does not surprise you at deposit time.
Watch the small-order squeeze
The fixed $0.30 per transaction costs about 12% on a $5 order and about 3% on a $200 one, so the fee breakdown makes the case for bundling or raising your average order value with real numbers.
Shopify next to every other channel
Etsy, Amazon, and your own store sit on one board, so you can see which channel actually keeps the most of what it sells, not just which one sells the most.
Who this fits
Shopify sellers, especially those also listing on Etsy or Amazon, who want a real take-home number per channel instead of a gross sales figure that flatters the store.

Questions people actually ask
How long does Shopify take to payout?
For US stores on Shopify Payments the settlement time is 3 business days, counted from the business day after the transaction is captured, and weekends and holidays do not count. Shopify sends the payout in the early evening and most US banks post it the next morning, though some add 1 to 3 days, which is why Shopify's own US page describes the end-to-end wait as 2 to 5 business days. The Shopify payout schedule guide has the full timing rules.
Why is my Shopify payout pending?
Four causes account for nearly all of them: the pay period has not closed yet, a bank account change triggered a 3 to 5 business day verification pause, the account is under review after a chargeback or compliance check, or the payout was sent and your bank is still posting the ACH. The admin names the reason under Finances and then Payouts. Our guide on a Shopify payout pending or paused covers what to do for each.
How do I track Shopify payouts and fees in one place?
Shopify reports payouts as net deposits, so the processing fee and the gross sales behind each one are not on the same line. Recording every payout with gross, fee, take-home, and the pay period it covers is what turns deposits into a readable income number. The Shopify payouts tracker does that automatically and puts expected dates on a payout calendar.
Is Shopify cheaper than Etsy for the same order?
It depends on volume, because the costs are shaped differently. Shopify charges no sales commission but a $39 monthly plan fee on Basic plus 2.9% plus $0.30 processing, while Etsy charges no meaningful monthly fee but roughly 12% all-in per order, higher with Offsite Ads. That makes Etsy cheaper at low volume and Shopify cheaper once the monthly fee is spread across enough orders. We worked the break-even in Etsy vs Shopify fees.
