Lemon Squeezy Fees and Pricing in 2026
October 2026 · 8 min read · by the Earnly team
Lemon Squeezy charges 5% plus $0.50 per transaction and no monthly fee. That rate already includes card processing and the sales tax and VAT work, because Lemon Squeezy is the merchant of record. On top of it, international payments add 1.5%, PayPal payments add 1.5% and subscription payments add 0.5%. On a $29 sale to a US buyer paying by card you keep $27.05.
We read Lemon Squeezy's pricing page, its fees article and its getting-paid article on October 6, 2026, along with its January 2026 company update. Most Lemon Squeezy pricing guides stop at "5% plus 50 cents". The surcharges, the payout fees, the $50 payout minimum and the twice-a-month payout dates are what decide how much lands in your bank and when.
Selling on Lemon Squeezy and somewhere else too?
Earnly puts gross, fees and take-home from every platform you earn on into one board, with a payout calendar for each.
Lemon Squeezy fees in 2026, every charge
| Charge | Rate | When it applies |
|---|---|---|
| Platform fee | 5% + $0.50 | Every order, on the total order value including tax |
| International surcharge | +1.5% | Buyers outside the US |
| PayPal surcharge | +1.5% | Orders paid with PayPal |
| Subscription surcharge | +0.5% | Every subscription payment |
| Abandoned cart recovery | +5% | Payments recovered by cart recovery emails |
| Affiliate referral | +3% | Orders that come through your affiliate program |
| Payout to a US bank | Free | Payouts via Stripe |
| Payout to a non-US bank | 1% per payout | Payouts via Stripe |
| Payout to PayPal, US | $0.50 per payout | PayPal payouts |
| Payout to PayPal, outside the US | 3%, capped at $30 | PayPal payouts |
| Monthly plan | $0 | No subscription or setup fee |
The surcharges stack. An international buyer paying with PayPal for a subscription costs 5% + 1.5% + 1.5% + 0.5% = 8.5%, plus the $0.50. Lemon Squeezy offers custom pricing to high-volume stores and to sellers whose products cost less than $10, so if either fits you, ask before you accept the standard rate.
How much you keep per sale
The fixed $0.50 is what makes cheap products expensive to sell. On a $9 ebook it is 5.6% of the price on its own. On a $49 license it is about 1%.
| Sale | Lemon Squeezy fee | You keep | Share of the price |
|---|---|---|---|
| $9 ebook, US buyer, card | $0.95 | $8.05 | 10.6% |
| $29 template, US buyer, card | $1.95 | $27.05 | 6.7% |
| $29 template, US buyer, PayPal | $2.39 | $26.61 | 8.2% |
| $12 monthly subscription, US buyer, card | $1.16 | $10.84 | 9.7% |
| $49 license, UK buyer, card, 20% VAT added ($58.80 charged) | $4.32 | $44.68 | 8.8% |
The last row shows the detail most calculators miss: the fee is worked out on the total order value, tax included. The UK buyer pays $58.80, Lemon Squeezy takes 6.5% of that plus $0.50, keeps the $9.80 VAT to remit, and you get $44.68. The same applies to US buyers in states that tax digital goods.
Lemon Squeezy pricing at $2,000 a month, compared
The fair comparison is against the other merchants of record, because they do the same tax job, and against selling through Stripe yourself, where the tax job is yours. Worked on 100 one-time orders of $20 from US buyers paying by card.
| Option | Rate | Cost a month | Share of sales | Handles sales tax |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lemon Squeezy | 5% + $0.50 | $150 | 7.5% | Yes |
| Paddle | 5% + $0.50 | $150 | 7.5% | Yes |
| Stripe Managed Payments | 3.5% + Stripe 2.9% + $0.30 | $158 | 7.9% | Yes |
| Payhip Plus | $29 + 2% + Stripe | $157 | 7.9% | EU and UK VAT only |
| Gumroad, direct sales | 10% + $0.50 + 2.9% + $0.30 | $338 | 16.9% | Yes |
| Stripe on your own site | 2.9% + $0.30 | $88 | 4.4% | No, you register and file |
Selling through Stripe directly is $62 a month cheaper here, and that $62 is the price of not registering for and filing sales tax and VAT yourself. For a US seller whose buyers are mostly in a few states, that trade can go either way. For one selling software to buyers in dozens of countries, a merchant of record usually earns its fee. Our Payhip pricing page works through the Payhip side at five sales levels, and the Gumroad alternatives page prices ten storefronts at $2,000 and $10,000 a month.
Lemon Squeezy pricing for a SaaS subscription
Subscriptions change the picture because of the 0.5% surcharge and because Stripe charges for Billing. Take 200 customers on a $29 monthly plan, $5,800 a month, all paying by US card.
| Option | Rate on subscriptions | Cost a month | Share of revenue |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lemon Squeezy | 5.5% + $0.50 | $419 | 7.2% |
| Paddle | 5% + $0.50 | $390 | 6.7% |
| Stripe Managed Payments with Billing | 3.5% + 2.9% + $0.30 + 0.7% | $472 | 8.1% |
| Stripe with Billing, no tax handling | 2.9% + $0.30 + 0.7% | $269 | 4.6% |
Stripe Managed Payments is cheaper than Lemon Squeezy only on small tickets: below about $14.29 for one-time sales and about $12.50 for subscriptions, because its fixed part is $0.30 instead of $0.50. Above those prices Lemon Squeezy costs less per order.
Lemon Squeezy payout schedule and minimum payout
Lemon Squeezy creates payouts twice a month, on the 1st and the 15th, covering all sales since the last payout. Net sales are held for 13 days and then paid on the 14th and 28th. A payout takes 1 to 5 days to reach your bank. The minimum payout is $50; below that, the balance stays pending and rolls into the next cycle.
In practice a sale on the 4th of the month is included in the payout created on the 15th and paid on the 28th, so it reaches you three to four weeks after the buyer paid. Bank payouts are made in USD and converted at the mid-market rate if your bank account is in another currency; PayPal payouts are always in USD. Every payout comes with a downloadable reverse invoice, which is the document your bookkeeper wants. If they match each payout to its bank deposit, payout reconciliation software saves them doing it line by line.
Is Lemon Squeezy still a safe choice in 2026?
Stripe bought Lemon Squeezy in 2024. In a January 28, 2026 update, Lemon Squeezy's CEO said the team was focused on building Stripe Managed Payments, that support responses were slower and product updates less frequent, and that the goal is to give Lemon Squeezy users an easy way to move to Stripe Managed Payments. Lemon Squeezy still processes sales and pays out on the schedule above.
If you are starting fresh, price both. Stripe Managed Payments adds 3.5% to standard Stripe processing, covers sales tax, VAT and GST in more than 80 countries, and has no setup fee or monthly minimum. If you already sell on Lemon Squeezy, there is no reason to rush, but keep your product files, customer list and license keys exportable so a move takes a day rather than a month.
How to track Lemon Squeezy income with your other platforms
Lemon Squeezy's dashboard shows Lemon Squeezy. If the same person also earns from YouTube, a Gumroad store, Patreon or Etsy, each of those pays out on its own dates, net of its own fees, and the true monthly take-home only exists in a spreadsheet someone keeps by hand. Earnly does that job: you upload the CSV exports from your platforms, and it lines up gross, fees and take-home per source on one board with a payout calendar and a next-month forecast that is always labeled an estimate. Lemon Squeezy payouts sent to PayPal come in with your PayPal activity export; bank payouts you can type in as a monthly figure. Earnly does not process payments or file taxes. Earnly plans are Solo, Creator and Studio.
If you also take payments through PayPal checkout elsewhere, our PayPal fee calculator shows what each sale costs, and our Stripe payout schedule guide covers when Stripe money arrives.
