WHAT YOUR VIEWS PAY
YouTube Earnings Calculator for Monthly and Yearly Ad Revenue
Put in your monthly views and the RPM from YouTube Studio, and the calculator above turns them into estimated ad revenue per month and per year, with Shorts and sponsor income counted separately. It is an estimate, because the one number that decides everything, your RPM, moves with niche, audience country and season.
Estimate only. RPM is what you earn per 1,000 views after YouTube takes its share, and it varies by niche, audience country and season, so use the RPM from your own YouTube Studio analytics. Not tax or accounting advice.
In short
YouTube ad earnings are views divided by 1,000, multiplied by your RPM. RPM is revenue per 1,000 views after YouTube takes its share, so 100,000 views at a $4 RPM is about $400. Long-form videos pay creators 55% of the ad revenue they generate, while Shorts revenue comes from a shared pool and pays far less per view. The only reliable RPM is your own, shown in YouTube Studio under Analytics, Revenue.

How YouTube ad money is counted and paid
The rules that sit between the calculator result and money in your account.
| Item | How it works |
|---|---|
| Long-form share | Creators keep 55% of the ad revenue their long-form videos generate |
| Shorts | Revenue is pooled and shared by views, so the RPM is much lower than on long-form |
| Full ad revenue eligibility | The YouTube Partner Program requires 1,000 subscribers plus 4,000 public watch hours or 10 million public Shorts views in 90 days |
| Payment | AdSense pays around the 21st of the month after the earnings, once the balance reaches $100 |
| Taxes | Payments are gross of your own income tax, and US creators receive a Form 1099 from Google |
Why it matters
What this line of the statement buys you
Long-form and Shorts counted apart
A Short and a ten-minute video do not earn at the same rate. Entering them separately keeps a viral Shorts month from inflating the number you plan around.
Ads are only one income line
Sponsors, memberships and merch often outweigh ad revenue for a mid-size channel. The extra field adds them so the yearly figure is closer to the real picture.
An estimate you can check
The calculator gives a forecast. YouTube Studio gives the actual estimated revenue, and the AdSense payment gives the final amount after adjustments.
Real numbers on one board
Earnly puts each YouTube payout next to your Patreon, Stripe and sponsor income, so you see what you actually made across every source and what each one kept in fees.
How you use it
From export file to answer
Open your RPM in YouTube Studio
Analytics, then Revenue, shows RPM for the period. Use a 28-day or 90-day figure rather than your best week.
Enter monthly views and RPM
Use long-form views and RPM in the first pair of fields and Shorts views and RPM in the second.
Add other income
Include sponsorships, memberships and merch that arrive in a typical month.
Read the yearly figure with care
Multiplying a single month by twelve assumes steady views. Compare it with your last few real payouts before you rely on it.
It works the same for every kind of seller: see it in action for freelancers, amazon sellers, youtubers or check the income tracker pricing.
Questions people actually ask
How much does YouTube pay per 1,000 views?
It depends on RPM, which varies widely. Finance and business channels with US audiences sit at the high end, while entertainment and gaming channels with a global audience sit lower. Your own RPM in YouTube Studio is the only number that applies to your channel.
What is the difference between RPM and CPM?
CPM is what advertisers pay per 1,000 ad impressions before YouTube takes its share. RPM is what you earn per 1,000 video views after the share, and it includes views that showed no ad. RPM is the right number for estimating your income.
How much does YouTube pay for Shorts?
Shorts revenue comes from a pool that is divided by views, so a thousand Shorts views usually earn a small fraction of a thousand long-form views. Enter your Shorts RPM separately to see the effect.
When does YouTube pay creators?
AdSense pays around the 21st of the following month once your balance reaches the $100 payment threshold. Smaller balances roll forward. Our YouTube payment schedule guide covers the timing in detail.
Is this the same as YouTube Studio revenue?
No. Studio shows estimated revenue for views already counted. This calculator projects forward from a views figure and an RPM you choose, so treat it as a plan rather than a statement.
Can I see all my YouTube and other income together?
Yes. Earnly records each payout from YouTube and your other sources on one board. See the YouTube revenue tracker and the page for YouTubers. For a broader view of channel income, read how much YouTube pays.
