In short

Stripe's standard US pricing for online card payments is 2.9% plus $0.30 per successful charge. International cards add 1.5%, currency conversion adds 1%, and Instant Payouts cost 1% with a $0.50 minimum. On a $100 charge Stripe keeps $3.20, so $96.80 lands in your balance. The fixed $0.30 matters most on small charges.

What Stripe keeps at different charge sizes

Worked examples at the standard 2.9% + $0.30 rate. The effective rate falls as the charge grows because $0.30 is flat.

Customer pays Stripe fee You keep Stripe keeps
$10 $0.59 $9.41 5.9%
$30 $1.17 $28.83 3.9%
$100 $3.20 $96.80 3.2%

$100 international card with conversion $5.70 $94.30 5.7%

Why it matters

What this line of the statement buys you

The fixed fee shown on small charges

On a $10 sale the $0.30 is three percent by itself. Seeing it on the tape explains why low-priced products and tips lose more to processing than the headline percentage suggests.

Add-ons that stack

International cards and currency conversion add to the base rate. Switching them on shows the fee on a charge from a customer abroad before you quote a price.

Charge enough to land a set amount

The gross-up chip tells you what to charge so that exactly the amount you need arrives after Stripe takes its fee.

Every payout, not one charge

A calculator answers one charge. Earnly reads your Stripe payouts alongside YouTube, Etsy and Patreon so the fee picture covers the whole month.

How you use it

Questions people actually ask

How much does Stripe charge per transaction?

Standard US pricing is 2.9% plus $0.30 per successful card charge. On a $100 charge that is $3.20.

Does Stripe charge extra for international cards?

Yes. Cards issued outside the US add 1.5%, and a charge that needs currency conversion adds another 1%.

Does Stripe refund its fee on a refund?

Stripe generally does not return the processing fee on a refunded charge, so a refund costs you the fee on top of the money returned. Check Stripe's current terms for your account.

How do I charge enough to cover Stripe fees?

Add the fixed fee to the amount you want, then divide by one minus the percent rate. For $100 at 2.9% + $0.30 that is $100.30 divided by 0.971, about $103.30.

When does Stripe pay out?

On a standard schedule, with timing that depends on your country and account history. Our Stripe payout schedule guide covers it.

Can I see Stripe next to my other income?

Yes. Earnly records Stripe payouts with your other sources on one board, and the PayPal fee calculator covers the other common processor. See also Stripe and QuickBooks.
